Two things to keep in mind when creating your content for your real estate social media are:

  1. Real estate is a local business.
  2. You want to build relationships and encourage engagement.
Because real estate is a local business, you want to position yourself as the local real estate expert.

Sharing neighborhood information is a great way to show you know the area. Think about the information that is important to your clients when they are doing a home search. For example, what recreational amenities are available, where are the closest stores and restaurants, and who makes a great cup of coffee?

Covering local events is always interesting, entertaining, and informative for your followers. Snapping some photos or short video clips allows you to highlight what was happening at the event.

Include polls or contests to allow your followers to participate.

For instance, create a poll on what local sites your followers would like you to visit. Or create a contest where your followers post a photo of their fall-decorated front porch. Have them tag you in their post, and your clients will share your name with their connections.

Of course, you want to include your listings and just sold homes because people love looking at photos of homes.

Just remember the 80/20 rule. Be careful to create the right balance of promotional posts.

Buyer and seller tips can be a great way to provide information to your followers.

When you learn something that might help another client, be sure to share it. Aren’t we always learning something new no matter how long we have been in the business?

Answering frequently asked questions will be interesting to a lot of your followers.

If you have several clients asking the same questions, it is probably not common knowledge, even if you think it is. Answering these questions not only helps future clients but establishes you as an authority in real estate.

Share funny real estate stories.

Do not use testimonials, but stories that may have happened during a showing or closing. There are a lot of crazy things that happen in the life of a real estate agent. Your followers will enjoy the entertainment.

Showcase your customer care services.

Many agents have client appreciation parties. Some rent private movie theaters, bowling parties,  or private boxes at sporting events, Be sure to share the event so potential clients can see how you will care for them.

Interior or exterior design ideas are always popular.

HGTV has a significant following because viewers love this type of content. Share everyday design trends along with some luxury or outlandish trends.

Interviewing local business owners, community leaders, professional service providers, school leadership, etc., provides local information to showcase you as the local expert.

It also allows your audience to get a better glimpse of a community where they may want to live.

Create a weekly segment that gives your audience something to look forward to each week.

Provide engaging, relevant, and practical information.

Don’t forget to add some glimpses of your personal life.

Show you are a real person outside of your real estate career. Share your interests and hobbies that may just be the connection a potential client needs to hire you.

Once you get started brainstorming ideas, you will tap into your creativity and have a month full of content planned efficiently.
